Marquette County Household Hazardous Waste collection was started  by the Marquette County Solid Waste Authority with the purpose of keeping common toxic household chemicals out of our water and air.  These everyday chemicals (pesticides, household cleaners, oil based paints and solvents, ect.) all have the potential to damage our fragile ecosystem.

How To Identify HHW: Read the label. Look for the signal words, "Danger- Poison, Danger, Warning, Caution, Flammable or Caustic".

Mission Statement
"To operate the landfill at the least financial cost while operating the landfill in an environmentally sound manner. The Authority shall concentrate its efforts on a cost efficient landfill operation while attempting to implement resource recovery projects and diverting hazardous waste from disposal in the landfill. The Marquette County Solid Waste Management Authority shall set solid waste management policy and solid waste system implementation in consultation with the Marquette County Board of Commissioners and the Marquette County Planning Commission."

Area residents are now able to recycle their household batteries that would have otherwise ended up in the trash. Click the link below for more details.
